IRS has extended the tax filing deadline to May 17th, 2021. Similar to the federal tax filing and payment deadline extension, California will also extend the state tax filing and payment deadline for individuals to May 17th, 2021. If you had your tax prep fees taken out of your refund and chose to do direct deposit your stimulus payment will delivered based on the schedule below. IF YOU DO NOT GET YOUR PAYMENT NOW AND ARE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A STIMULUS PAYMENT YOU CAN APPLY TO RECEIVE IT WHEN YOU FILE YOUR 2020 TAX RETURN.A message from Refund Advantage.Economic impact payment deposits that were erroneously sent to closed refund transfer accounts were required to be returned to the IRS. The bank does not have these payments, and the IRS will be  issuing these payments directly to the customer.Stimulus payments will be processed by IRS and sent via your bank accounts or by check by February 1st based on the information you provided with your 2019 tax return.Once payments are made by IRS, the Get My Payment tool on the IRS website will be updated to reflect the payment amount after February 1st.Banks or tax preparers DO NOT have the funds – the US Treasury has the money and will be delivering it to taxpayers through the IRS process as stated above.

The IRS has recently released two tools to help answer these questions. One tool is for individuals to check the status of their stimulus payment and exactly how and when to expect it. The other is a tool to help guide individuals that don’t file taxes as to how to apply for the stimulus payment or if they can expect the payment without having to provide any additional information.
